15-5PH, 1.4545, UNS S15500, X5CrNiCuNb15-5 is a precipitation hardened martensitic stainless steel alloy, stainless, precipitation hardened steel with martensitic structure. It is characterized by excellent mechanical properties - strength and hardness, and at the same time excellent corrosion resistance.This alloy is an improved version of 17-4 that offers better toughness.It exhibits significant environmental resistance including acetic acid, salt, nitric acid or sodium hydroxide at low concentrations. this alloy is widely used in the aerospace industry for most fasteners and structural components, petrochemical, chemical, food and paper industries.

15-5, 15-5PH The martensitic stainless steel construction with the symbol 15-5PH, which is hardened and most precipitation used in the aerospace industry. Is determined by the structural steel, high-alloy steel. Is distinguished by its many mechanical properties-primarily a high degree of strength in temperatures and extreme hardness. In addition, it has high corrosion resistance. In addition, this grade of steel is distinguished by its resistance to oxidation. Martensitic steel X5CrNiCuNb15-5 number 1.4545 is used in aerospace, petrochemical, chemical, food and paper industries. Steel is used for the production of parts exposed to moderate exposure to various acids, e.g. acetic acid, nitric acid, low-concentration sodium hydroxide. Due to characteristics such as ductility and thickness, this grade is irreplaceable in the manufacture of aircraft engine components and nuclear reactor components. The processed steel X5CrNiCuNb15-5 after heat treatment and many technological processes can be obtained in the form of round bars and flat bars, forged bars and forgings and sheets. 1.4545 steel round bars are one of the most popular forms of metallurgical products that can be used in many industries.

S15500 grade very good resistance to corrosion and acids such as nitric, acid, sodium hydroxide makes this grade really easy to process. It is worth remembering that S15500 stainless steel is available in various forms of material and then undergoes many technological processes. Stainless steel 1.4545 in the form of +H900 has a tensile strength greater than 1170 MPa. Its yield strength is more than 1000 MPa and the elongation is greater than 5, while the hardness of 15-5 steels after machining is greater than 375 HB. The steel grade in the form +H925 has an ultimate tensile strength greater than 1205 MPa and a yield strength of 1035 MPa. The elongation is more than 5 % and the hardness is more than 375 HB. Martensitic stainless steel in the form of +H1025 has a tensile strength greater than 1035 MPa and a yield strength greater than 965 MPa. The elongation is slightly greater than in previous moulds as much as 9 %.

Heat Treatment of 15-5PH, 1.4545, UNS S15500, X5CrNiCuNb15-5

  • CONDITION A: Soak the material for 0.5 h at 1038°C (1900°F) and then cool the material in air.
  • CONDITION H 900: The Condition A material is soaked for 1 h at 482°C (900°F) and cooled in air.
  • CONDITION H 925, H 1025, H1075, H 1100, H 1150: Soak Condition A material for 4 h at desired temperature and air cool.
  • CONDITION H 1150M: Soak Condition A material for 2 h at 760°C (1400°F) and air cool. This material is also heated for 4 h to 621°C (1150°F) and finally cooled in air.
