30CrNiMo8, 1.6580, 30NCD8 QT alloy special steel - Introduction and Application
Alloy structural steel with hardenability, with high elasticity and high strength properties, mostly used for heavy components, reaching over 1560 N/mm2 in small diameters. After softening, the hardness reaches its maximum value. 248 HRB. Another feature of it is its resistance to variable loads and shocks. This material is not suitable for welding and will eventually require additional preheating. Grade 30CrNiMo8 is used in the production of heavy duty parts, shafts and drive shafts, steering shafts, engine crankshafts, screws and components exposed to temperature in the power industry.

Heat Treatment of 30CrNiMo8, 1.6580, 30NCD8 QT alloy special steel
Softening annealing at a temperature of 640 - 680℃
Normalizing annealing at a temperature of 840 - 860℃
Hardening with cooling in oil at 815 - 845℃
Tempering with cooling in air at 550 - 650℃
